I offer English tuition in West Sussex, East Grinstead.
I have 20 years' teaching and tutoring experience and am currently a teacher of English at Key Stage 3 and 4 in school. I am a very experienced tutor with a wide range of English skills and have examined for SATs at Key Stage 3 and for GCSE English at Key Stage 4.
Most importantly perhaps, I am a professional but caring tutor, a practising teacher and I am CRB checked.
My qualifications are: MA Oxford University, MA UCNW, PGCE University of Leicester, RSA Prep Cert TEFL.
I offer one to one tutoring. All levels including GCSE English and English Literature, AS, A2 and SATS, Key Stage 2,3,4, Entrance Exams, essay technique, exam technique, past papers, coursework, assessment and help with literacy, spelling and reading difficulties, punctuation, handwriting, grammar, phonics and 11 plus exams.
I also teach English as a Second and Foreign language, Cambridge First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced, Cambridge Proficiency, IELTS, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 English. I specialise in the teaching of pronunciation and focus on the individual requirements of my students.
I have also provided support for Business English in and out of the workplace. I also tutor English at degree level, and also provide literacy support for students at degree level or help students achieve higher standards in academic writing.

My specialist area is Literacy Support and I have achieved excellent results in supporting students, improving their academic writing and improving their own literacy to a level they had not considered possible.
I am an extremely experienced tutor in the area of phonics, having brought great improvement for students experiencing reading difficulties or whose spelling may be also affected. I teach phonics to a high level, so that even more advanced combinations of sounds can be understood. I am thorough and extremely patient,borne out of 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience.
I have experience of tutoring students both in the workplace and privately. For instance,recently I was involved in training to improve the Writing skills of a travel writer whose language skills were preventing her from producing the high quality brochure writing, required by her company. I have also improved the telephone and sales presentation skills of an employee in the Sales and Marketing Division of a company specialising in Banking.
I specialise in the teaching of pronunciation, as I speak with a high standard of pronunciation, and have experience in a number of areas involving the voice such as work on the telephone. I tutor pronunciation on a one to one basis, to improve this skill in native and non native speakers.
My rate is 30 pounds per hour
